In order to assess the social background of the BASE participants, information about their parents and siblings was collected. In addition to general demographic data (year of birth, place of residence, etc.), participants were also asked about the school education and professional careers of their mother, father and siblings. For those participants who did not grow up with their biological parents, the interview focused on their adoptive or step-parents.
